TrueCoach's three caps
TrueCoach charges by active clients, and each plan stops at a number. Starter covers 5, Standard 20 and Pro 50. Above 50 there is no public price: the pricing page asks you to email support.
Two details are easy to miss. The pricing page opens on annual billing, so the first figures you see ($26.34, $57.99 and $136.99) are the annual rate per month. Billed monthly, the same plans are $29.98, $69.98 and $164.98. And the features barely change between plans: MyFitnessPal nutrition tracking, messaging, the exercise video library and payments are on all three, while Standard and Pro add wearables, a custom-branded app and public coach profiles. What you are really paying for is the cap.
What client 6, 21 and 51 cost
The fair comparison is the moment you cross a cap. This is each tool's monthly price with one client more than each TrueCoach plan allows.

Everfit and Trainerize price on a slider, so a roster between two stops pays for the next one up. PT Distinction charges per client above each plan's allowance ($6, $2.40 or $1.60 a month), and a new extra client is free for its first month. My PT Hub's $25 Starter plan stops at three clients, so Premium is the plan that applies here.
What happens when you hit the cap
TrueCoach gives you two moves. You can upgrade at any time, and what you have already paid is pro-rated against the new plan. Or you can archive a client: archived clients do not count toward the limit, but they cannot log in to their TrueCoach account until you reactivate them. That works for a client on a break. It does not work for a client who is still training.
So the jump is real. Client 21 takes a monthly bill from $69.98 to $164.98, $95 more for one person, and an annual one from $57.99 to $136.99 a month. Between 21 and 50 you pay for seats you have not filled yet. Downgrades only apply at the end of the billing period, so a roster that dips back under 20 keeps paying for Pro until then, which on an annual plan is the rest of the year.
Pick by the reason you are leaving
- You keep crossing 20 clients. Take the cap away. Onyx Coach (€29) and My PT Hub Premium ($59) both include unlimited clients, so client 21 and client 51 cost nothing extra.
- You train people in a gym, not only online. TrueCoach does handle in-person clients: you enter their results from the workout calendar, for today or earlier. Onyx is built for doing that live on the gym floor, from your phone, between sets. Hevy Coach's phone app does the same for clients who already use Hevy.
- You want nutrition and payments without add-ons. TrueCoach already includes MyFitnessPal tracking and payments, though its help centre lists a flat 5% fee per transaction on client payments. My PT Hub includes nutrition plans and payment processing on every plan. On Trainerize both are add-ons; on Everfit payments and the full meal planner are.
- You have fewer than ten clients and want the smallest bill. Everfit is free for five and Hevy Coach is $25 for ten. Both cost less than TrueCoach Starter at $29.98 for five.

Onyx Coach

What it does not do: meal plans, in-app payments, video calls, a white-labelled app, or an open chat with clients (each check-in carries the client's note and your feedback instead). The trial is 14 days with no card, the same as TrueCoach's.

Tiers at 5, 15, 30, 50, 75, 100 and 200 clients sit closer together than TrueCoach's three plans, so crossing one costs less: $50 for 15 clients, $79 for 30. The catch is the add-on list, where nutrition, scheduling, video calls and payments are all sold separately. The trial is 30 days with unlimited clients and no card.
Trainerize vs TrueCoachPT Distinction
$19.90, $59.90 or $89.90 a month, plus per clientCoaches who want a branded app on a mid-range plan.
Each plan includes 3, 25 or 50 clients, and extra clients cost $6, $2.40 or $1.60 a month instead of forcing an upgrade, which is the opposite of TrueCoach's hard caps. Pro and Master include custom-branded iOS and Android apps. When the 1-month trial ends, the subscription begins unless you cancel.
PT Distinction pricingWhen TrueCoach is still the right call
If your roster sits comfortably under 20 and stays there, Standard is a fair price for what it includes: MyFitnessPal nutrition tracking, messaging, payments with no monthly add-on, wearable data and a branded app. Annual billing brings it to $57.99 a month, and first-time annual subscribers get a 90-day money-back guarantee. If the video library and a short feature list are what you like about it, nothing on this page is a reason to move.
The case for leaving is narrower than most comparison pages make it. It is the cap, and what you pay the month you cross it. If that is not your problem, stay.
